Hello my name is Ms. Lee. Please travel with me to New Orleans to study Climate Change and Caterpillars!

Caterpillars of Louisiana

While in Louisiana I will be collecting caterpillars to help with the study on climate change. Check out this website to see some of the caterpillars I might encounter! Think about their color, shape, spikes etc. Why do you think each caterpillar is different? Why is there such a wide variety of adaptations?

The caterpillors are different because they come from different environments [climate, foliage].Their diet affect their size and color.Their preditors differ thats why some have spikes.

We think each catepillar is diffrent because of the environment they live in. Maybe the things that surround the catepilar affect its appearance & behavior.
    have fun ms. stockwell:)

We think that the caterpillars are different colors, shapes, and sizes, because they need to be that way to adapt to their diets, habitats, and predators. Their colors can confuse and help them hide from predators; shapes and sizes can disguise them on their host plants and discourage other animals that would eat them.;]

  5. Each caterpillar is different because each species may have a different enviorment which may affect their characteristics to help them survive. There may be a wide variety of adaptations because of predators, climate, habitat, weather, temperature.

Are the horns on the caterpillars a way of self defense they had adapted over time?

Hi Ms. Stockwell. ^_^ Those are really weird caterpillars we saw. Especially that one called Limacodidae, it looks like it's wearing a shirt. Why does it look like that? O.o?

  9. Our group(group 6) thinks that caterpillars have differnet sizes, shapes, colors, and adapstions because they all have different DNA genetic codes.

Louisiana sounds fun, What do caterpillars do to help us in the climate change? Are any of the caterpillars edable? We hope you have a safe trip & a good time at louisiana,
    P.S kainoa says bye

  13. We think each catepillar adapted differently because of different predators in their area, different foods they eat, and what their enviernment is. GROUP 4 BLOCK 3 Tiffany Cade Jeric and Corey

We think caterpillars are different because they have different DNA which means there are different species. There is a variety of differnet adapatations because each caterpillar is different so they are able to adapt to different climates and camflauge to protect them from there preditors.

1.How many different caterpillars did you study?
    2.What is the weather there?

    PS have lots of fun!!

  15. Dear Ms.Stockwell we were wondering how many caterpillars are in New Orleans, Louisiana. Also how can we tell the climate changes with catepillars? What type of parasites determine the weather? And what are some ways that the parasites get onto the catepillar? And also if the type of catepillars effect the parasites on them?

we think that each caterpillar is differnt because each type of caterpillar live in differnt enviroments ,climates, to protect them selfs froms preditors and live by differnt veggitation and adapted to that type of climate or enviroment or type of veggitation that it changed its carateristics. there is such a wide variety of caterpillar adaptations because of the widde variety of veggitation and enviroment and climates also to defend them selfs from preditors.

  17. Nutria come from south america. they damage the ecosystem in Louisiana by
overharvesting crops in its area causing less food for other species. an envasive speicies is a little red fire ant they kill plants and give massive welts to people. tiffany cade Corey and jeric
